ACM's 2014: Top Five

Monday, April 7, 2014

Last night was the Academy of Country Music Awards. There's no other television program I love more than a country music award show. Although I don't listen to country music quite as much as I used to since I moved to Philadelphia, something about the genre always feels like home to me after practically being raised on it. These were my top five favorite moments of the night.

5. Kacey Musgraves winning Album of the Year.
I am obsessed, and I mean obsessed, with Same Trailer Different Park. It's one of the few albums I know every word of every single song. My favorite part about Musgrave's acceptance speech was when she said "I'm proud to be a woman representing country music." If you check out her album be sure to listen to "Stupid", "It Is What It Is", and "Keep It To Yourself."

 4. Luke Bryan and Blake Shelton pretending to be Daft Punk
This might be a guilty pleasure, but I love how country music artists make fun of pop and rap artists during the show (I know, horrible, but great when you don't listen to that style of music and it's all in good fun). Jokes were directed towards but not limited to; Miley Cyrus, Britney Spears and Daft Punk. Also, who didn't love when they pulled off the helmets and were like, "How the Hell you supposed to get lucky in that thing? I couldn't even breathe."

3. Blake Shelton and Shakira's Duet, "Medicine"
You know how every once in a while you find a song you basically play on repeat all day long? This song has been mine, seriously, I probably listened to it 20 times today. Seeing them perform it live on the award show was really great, and I love how an unlikely pair sound so incredible together.

2. The Red Carpet
These dresses! As much as I love the country music awards, usually the red carpets aren't quite the best but Taylor Swift, Danielle Bradbery and Kellie Pickler looked stunning.

1. The Band Perry Opening the Show
I am a HUGE The Band Perry fan, ever since I saw them when they had just came out with "If I Die Young" more than three years ago. Chainsaw is one of my favorites off their newest album, "Pioneer." And how bad-ass does Kimberly Perry look!?

Spring Wishlist: Colored Heels

Wednesday, April 2, 2014

Today the weather was in the 60's, and I was so happy about it. Now that Spring has finally sprung I feel the need to freshen up my wardrobe. And what's a better way than with some brightly colored heels? I'm currently looking for the perfect pair for Easter and to wear all spring and summer long. I'm obsessed with all of these choices by Chelsea Crew. What's on your spring wishlist?

Orange and Gold

Dress: T.J Maxx, Sweater: Gap, Tights: Hue, Watch: Michael Kors

I'm trying to ease my way into wearing bright, Spring colors but neutrals hold a special place in my heart. An easy, fun way to transition into Spring is with patterned tights, I love that these are knitted so they aren't uncomfortably warm. And throwing a sweater on over a transitional dress is also a good idea, in case it gets warm enough to take it off. But, look at all of that snow. Obviously that isn't happening anytime soon. Tomorrow we're supposed to get another inch or two of snow. Happy Spring! How I wish I was back in California.

Never Ending Winter

Wednesday, March 19, 2014

Dress: Forever 21, Turtleneck: H&M, Shoes: Thrifted

I don't know if you East Coasters realize this, but winter is never ending. Ever. Ha, well, I'm joking, hopefully. The first day of Spring is supposed to be tomorrow and I'm hoping that the weather at least creeps up into the 50's (I can't believe I'm saying that). This winter layering has been one of my number one tools. I'm a dress girl all the way, and adding a turtleneck and thick stockings has been my way to keep my personal style true to myself. Have you had to do anything this winter in order to keep that grasp on personal style?
